We recently held an event in conjunction with Architecture Today at The Building Centre. Bob Lang, director at Arup, talks about underground construction from a structural engineering perspective, having also worked on the Macallan Distillery. Usually an advocate of high-rise construction, on this occasion he will examine the benefits of building down, considering some of the challenges to be overcome on the way.

Toby Jeavons, associate partner at Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners, will talk about the majestic new whisky distillery in Scotland for The Macallan, which is currently reaching completion. The distillery will serve to uncover the processes of whisky production and welcome visitors, preserving the historic natural landscape through its integration into the ground itself.
